The object was found on Tuesday evening, Aug. 15, when a Yonkers homeowner on Abner Place reported a suspicious item in their yard to the city's police department, according to Detective Sergeant Frank M. DiDomizio.
Soon after the call, the department's Emergency Service Unit and the Westchester County Police Department’s Hazardous Devices Unit arrived at the residence and cordoned off the area as a precaution.
The object was then removed by the Yonkers Police Hazardous Devices Unit to be analyzed, DiDomizio said.
The investigation into the object is still ongoing. More details are expected to be released as they become available, according to DiDomizio.
